After a bit of a bumpy ride in previous vintages, the 2015 White Stones Chardonnay comes back as a phenomenal white with effervescent acidity that makes you salivate and makes the wine extremely long, providing a sensation of freshness and salty minerality. It's austere, serious and a little closed, with subtle aromas and not much fruit, as it's more about stones than grapes (pun intended!). The palate reveals a straight, vertical and laser-cut white, with a backbone of acidity that lifts it up and makes it very long. It finishes with salty flavors that linger on your palate for a very long time

From 90- to 100-year-old vines and picked about four weeks after the Kabinett, the 2022 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese offers a very clear, precise and fresh, substantial and complex nose with fresh lemon and crushed slate aromas. Round and savory on the palate, this is a pure, vibrantly fresh and elegant Sonnenuhr Spätlese with gorgeous fruit and savoriness. The finish is crunchy, saline and mouth-watering. This is a classic in the making, and it should be great in about a decade or two. There is remarkable precision and salivating length here. 7% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in May 2023. |

The 2021 White Cuvée is a blend of 40% Chardonnay, 26% Roussanne, 19% Marsanne and 15% Viognier, with grapes from Jesperson Vineyard and Slide Hill Vineyard in Edna Valley, plus Stolpman Vineyard in Ballard Canyon. Matured for around 21 months in 50% new French barriques, it was bottled on August 12 and tasted on October 25. It opens with very classy matchstick and allspice that give way to an alluring core of peach and apple compote, jasmine and meringue. The full-bodied palate is luxuriously satiny and fantastically concentrated, although its notably vibrant acidity offers balance and creates juicy bursts of spicy fruit as it flows through the mouth. It boasts an epically long finish with a depth of spicy flavor that lures you back to the glass. 300 cases were made, which will be sold as part of a three-bottle box set.
