Moving to the Côte Rôties, the 2019 Côte Rôtie Brune Et Blonde De Vidal-Fleury is terrific, and this is a great vintage for the region. Black raspberries, dried flowers, savory meats, and spice all dominate the bouquet, and it’s medium to full-bodied, has ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. I suspect this will be a smoking value and keep for 10-12 years.

Jeb Dunnuck, February 2022

The 2018 Saint Joseph is almost Côte Rôtie-like in its black raspberry, spicy, and floral aromatics. These all carry to a medium-bodied Syrah that has silky tannins, outstanding balance, and just loads of character.

Decanter, September 2022

There's a touch of millefeuille pastry on the nose, a little vanilla. Medium- to full-bodied, not as strong in acidity as some 2021s. Finishes on fresh ginger and some cinnamon from the oak. Not hugely concentrated, but vibrant.

James Suckling, May 2023

This rather rich and plush Crozes has excellent integration of restrained toasty oak with ripe blueberry and blackberry fruit on the well-structured palate. Just beginning to show what it’s made of! Long, rather compact finish.

Jeb Dunnuck, February 2022

I loved the 2020 Crozes-Hermitage Blanc, another medium-bodied, vibrant white from this team. White flowers, crushed citrus, and honeysuckle define the bouquet, and it’s medium-bodied and elegant on the palate.

Jeb Dunnuck, February 2022

I loved the nose of the 2020 Cornas, and this pretty, medium to full-bodied Cornas shines for its purity of fruit as well as balance. It’s very floral on the nose and has plenty of more blue-tinged fruits, silky tannins, and a great finish.

Wine with bright yellow colour and green reflections. A wine full of freshness with fine aromas of white flowers and lemon zest. A nose that release subtle aromas of hawthorn, violet, and accacia that evolve to notes of honey over the years. Mouth with a slight acidity marked by roundness.

About VIDAL-FLEURY

VIDAL-FLEURY

Founded in 1781, Vidal-Fleury is the oldest active winery in the Rhone Valley. Located in the heart of the Côte-Rôtie, the winery works with 16 different Appellations d’Origine Contrôlées (AOC), producing wines that are true to the terroir and ‘elevage’ of their appellations. The art of patience is a key philosophy of Vidal-Fleury who believe that wine is of course made of grapes, but also with a lot of time.
