95+ Holiday Gift List - Part 1 New World Wines
It’s that time of year where we release our Holiday Gift Guide. The premise, as in previous years, is that we try to replicate the wine media’s Top 10 or Top 100 wine lists (Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast etc) with a collection of our most sought after, highest scoring wines.
All the wines below are in stock and available to order. The line has been drawn at a fairly difficult to achieve 95 points. Everything on this list scored at least 95 or above from a reputable media source.
We are obviously very proud of the wines our partners produce and thrilled to import such a broad range of exceptional products. This New World Wines list is just part one of two of our Holiday Gift Guide. There should be something in our guide to appeal to nearly any wine taste. We are especially, proud not just of the breadth of wines achieving these scores (33 in this offer) but the depth of greatness with our suppliers. Many have multiple wines on the list!
As always, click on any of the individual wines below to read more on our website or contact us directly if you have any questions – just hit reply. We love to talk about wine and would love to help you find something special!

James Halliday (Australian Wine Companion), August 2024
Shiraz sourced from a gnarled old patch of 177-year-old vines at the Langmeil estate in Tanunda; 26 months in French oak. A great release of the Freedom from the strong 2021 vintage. Deeply coloured with superb depth of fruit, concentration, texture and balance. Deeply resonant blackberry and dark plum fruits, packed with layers of spice, licorice, dark chocolate, roasting meats and earth. It's got a wonderful flow on the palate. Rich and elegant with a real sense of latent power, compact tannins and a finish that shows great persistence and carry. A good bet for the cellar.

Wine Advocate, November 2023
The 2021 Lenswood Vineyard Chardonnay is creamy and restrained. It's a wholly classy affair layered with chalky phenolics, salted peach, lashings of white miso green apples, leafy things (bay and sage) and loads of salted crushed nuts. Elegant to the end, and totally streamlined, all elements are in harmony. It's composed of a combination of Bernard clones 95 and 76 and planted at the Lenswood site at an elevation of 500 meters. It's a good-looking site—lush, healthy, gorgeous. 13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

Vinous, August 2022
The 2020 Sémillon El Enemigo from Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo hails from a 70-year-old vineyard. Aged with flor for a year before 15 months in barrels, it’s a golden yellow in the glass. On the nose there are notes of flint, honey, a little hazelnut and cashew nut underneath the flor-based aromas of white flowers and pear. In the mouth, however, it’s broad with a good, voluminous flow and a clove backdrop. Intense and creamy with a sustained layer of salinity, the stylistic acrobatics have opened up new possibilities for the varietal.

Decanter, October 2022
Crushed berry, Ceylon tea leaves and white pepper make for a brooding and alluring nose. The palate takes up this aromatic theme, enabled by a very fine, clear streak of bright acidity. A frame of graceful, firm tannin lends structure to this elegant wine. Really poised, long and aromatic. Matured in just 25% of new French oak for 16 months.

Wine Enthusiast, December 2017
This bottling reflects the past several years' fine-tuning the winery's vision in the vineyard and in the cellar. Including small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it's a rounded, concentrated wine that expresses the vintage with ripe, grippy tannins that beg for further resolution. Blackberry, clove and leather flavors rise to the fore.
