Wine Advocate on BODEGA NOEMÍA

Titre

Noemía de Patagonia is now the sole property of Han Vinding Diers, a project in Río Negro in Patagonia in the south of Argentina, where he cultivates seven hectares of vines that are certified organic by Ecocert. He produces 120,000 bottles per year of very balanced and elegant wines where the oak is better and better integrated. They are paying minute attention to all details, and that pays back. These are some of the best wines from Argentina.

The 2020 Malbec J Alberto is a Malbec with a 5% dash of Merlot from an old vineyard first planted in 1935 in Mainqué, Río Negro. Half aged in cement and 600 liter barrels, the rest was kept in stainless steel. Bright purple in the glass, fresh cherries are intertwined in the nose with violets, black tea and hints of country herbs as part of a substantial but delicate profile. The aging process plays a supporting role but offers no more than a faint whiff of orange petit fours. On the palate, the balance is precise with delicate weights and measures in which the flow is lean and releases an energy toward the end that fades entropically like a wind-up toy. An elegant wine.

Vinous, November 2022

The 2021 Malbec A Lisa from Mainqué, Río Negro was 15% aged in barrels. A bright purple in the glass. The nose offers violets, fresh plum, sour cherry and pinches of country herb. In the mouth, it has a tea-like texture with a degree of grip and a finely grained, juicy flow before the flavorful finish, which lingers at remarkable length given the fruity style. This is a red that manages to deliver intense flavor while maintaining a relaxed feel.

About BODEGA NOEMÍA

BODEGA NOEMÍA

Bodega Noemia was inspired by the discovery of a small plot of old vine, pre-phylloxera Malbec in the Río Negro Valley, where almost non-existent rainfall and incessant breezes make vine diseases virtually unknown. Noemia is 1½ hectares of Malbec planted in 1932, which means they are pre-phylloxera and massale selected. J.Alberto is a 4 ½ hectare plot divided into 5 blocks of inter planted Malbec at 95% and 5% of Merlot.
