Vinous on DOMAINE DELAPORTE
|
|
Matthieu Delaporte arrived at the family’s Chavignol-based domaine in 2010 just at age 22 and has brought since a new sense of energy and purpose to the estate. He’s expanded its holdings, ditched the use of herbicides, switched the now 33ha estate to hand harvesting, and now employs sensitive oak use on some cuvées. With vines in both Mont Damnés and Cul de Beaujeu (including a rare Pinot Noir among a sea of Sauvignon vines) they have the raw material to make great wines and there’s certainly more to come from Delaporte.

Wine Advocate, June 2023
Crafted from Pinot Noir grape, the 2022 Chavignol Rosé from Domaine Delaporte exhales a fresh, fruity bouquet with aromas of red berries, spring flowers, spices, pomegranate and menthol. It is juicy and delicate, ripe and round and has a long, penetrating, refreshing finish. This is a strong effort.

Based in the village of Chavignol, this producer has crafted a young and structured red. Tannins are bound up with red-cherry fruits and acidity to give a wine with good potential.

Wine Enthusiast, March 2023
After aging for 10 months in large wood barrels, the wine has a broad, ripe feel. Its creamy texture shows density as well as lime and grapefruit fruits. From one of the top vineyards sites in Chavignol, the wine should age. Drink from 2024.

Wine Enthusiast, March 2023
Flint soil, so typical of this region's chalk underlay, gives this wine intense minerality and structure. It is a well-textured wine, young and with white fruits that still to calm down. Drink from 2024.
