Celebrating Trialto's 25th Anniversary - Domaine Faiveley Library Offer

2023 marks 25 years of Trialto!

For 25 years our team has proudly shared our passion for wines of People, Place and Time. There have been many people who have helped along the way to make Trialto what it is today; from our incredible winery partners, to everyone who has worked for us over the years. It has long been our privilege to bring sought after wines to Canada, year after year, from some of the best producers around the world.

As we approached this milestone, we asked ourselves the question how best to celebrate? The obvious answer was with great wine!

So, we asked our partners to share something special from their cellars that we can pass on to our valued customers. Throughout 2023 we will be offering a collection of aged wines with impeccable provenance, directly from the cellars of our esteemed winery partners.

Today, we are thrilled to bring you our first such offer from Domaine Faiveley. Located in Nuits-St George, Domaine Faiveley has amassed an impressive collection of vineyards spanning both the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune as well as significant holdings in the Côte Chalonnaise. Not only did the winery provide us with some wines with age, but they also made available some of their most significant sites: Clos des Cortons Faiveley Grand Cru (a Monopole) and Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers both from the 2014 vintage.

Domaine Faiveley has long been regarded for their wines’ impressive ability to age and while they have made brilliant wines for decades the quality has gone to new heights under the stewardship of Erwan Faiveley. Today, the wines are routinely among the best scoring wines in the region, rivalling those from Domaine that cost much, much more. We believe that Faiveley produces not just some of the best wines found in the entire region, but also some of the best value wines as well.

We encourage you to take advantage of this impeccable parcel of wines and to celebrate our 25th year with us.

Cheers!

"Clos des Cortons Faiveley" has been owned by the Faiveley family as a monopole since 1874. It is the domaine's flagship wine and one of just two Burgundian Grands Crus to bear the name of its owner (Romanée-Conti being the other).

A fresh, cool and moderately restrained nose speaks of various red and dark berries along with plenty of iron-inflected earth, animale and pretty floral nuances. The lush, even opulent flavors certainly don’t lack for size, weight and power as they coat the palate while buffering the notably firm tannic spine on the muscular, driving and wonderfully persistent finish. This too is impressively concentrated and built-to-age.

(from a huge 2.05 ha parcel). A background but not invisible application of wood easily allows the cool and pure essence of red and dark berry fruit aromas that are liberally laced by almost pungent earth, animale, humus and underbrush nuances to shine. There is terrific punch and muscularity to the big-bodied, intense and mineral-driven flavors that display excellent delineation on the beautifully complex and hugely long finale. This is a very serious and built-to-age effort that will require plenty of patience before it reaches its peak.

About FAIVELEY

FAIVELEY

Founded in 1825, Domaine Faiveley is one of Burgundy's greatest domaines. Originally the company was a classic negotiant business, but after seven generations of steadily acquiring properties the Faiveley family have established themselves as the most important vineyard owners in Burgundy, with 120 hectares of painstakingly selected small plots (typically not larger than 1 hectare in size) spread across the region.
