The Anton family's company Grupo Artevino produces beautiful terroir-driven wines in Rioja (Bodegas Izadi and Bodegas Orben), Toro (Bodegas Vetus), and Ribera del Duero (Finca Villacreces). The estate of Villacreces sits between the world renowned estates of Vega Sicilia and Pingus, two of the most famous properties in Ribera del Duero, if not all of Spain.

All four properties operate with the same philosophy: To produce unique wines, representative of their place of origin. Farming is sustainable and focuses on old vines and low yields; perfectly encapsulating the adage that “wine is made in the vineyard.”

Shimmering violet. Expressive aromas of ripe red and blue fruits and candied rose, along with cola, vanilla and pipe tobacco topnotes. Juicy and appealingly sweet, offering lively black raspberry, cherry-vanilla and boysenberry flavors and a spicy nuance that builds as the wine opens up. Finishes sappy, smoky and long, with smooth, slow-building tannins that fold quickly into the wine's plush, oak-spiced fruit. Aged for 20 months in new French oak barrels.

In 1987, Gonzalo Antón, together with a group of friends and business people from nearby Vitoria, began a ground-breaking project in deepest Rioja Alavesa. The village of Villabuena de Alava, where his family already grew grapes, was chosen as the location for the innovative bodega which would focus on making fine wine.
