La Marchigiana
Le Marchigiana pays homage to the legendary Catena family’s origins and celebrates the women of Le Marche, Italy who were devoted to caring for the vines and harvest (pictured on the label). Just as Laura Catena’s great grandfather had made wine when he first arrived in Argentina from Le Marche in the late 1800s, La Marchigiana wines are fermented and aged in traditional clay pots called tinajas and have no added sulphites.
The grapes come from vineyards consisting of clay and loam soils located east of Mendoza at approximately 700 metres above sea level. They are farmed as they’ve always been: organically.
We are pleased to feature two wines in this offer: Bonarda, the grapes coming from an old-vine vineyard surrounding the Catena family home, and Criolla Chica, a variety the Spanish conquistadores brought to the Cuyo region in the 16th century.
