At an altitude of 1800 ft, the combination of a cool climate and volcanic soil produces wines with greater concentration, stronger tannins, and higher acidity. The 2016 Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is impenetrable in its youth, it is generous and giving now. It leads with aromas of dried red fruit, black currant, well-tanned leather and cassis. The tannins are fine and complement darker flavors of cocoa powder and espresso beans. You will find the finish lingers with the minerality of crushed rocks and natural acidity that forecasts its age-ability.
