James Suckling, February 2024

Reductive notes of racy bramble berries, pomegranates, rose hips and white pepper funk. Nice fruit on the palate, but kept nicely bone-dry, with tense, firm tannins and a fresh finish. Very slightly metallic. 100% whole clusters fermented in open steel tanks, 60% to 80% aged in foudres.

James Suckling, February 2024

Arresting floral aromas of pepper funk with watermelon, pomegranates and rose hips. Crushed flowers, too. Delicate and fragile with subtle reduction that makes it even more seductive and provocative. Ethereal and tense at the same time on the palate, showing very little heft. Chalky, firm tannins grip the finish, giving a dusty feel to the fruit. Super delicious now, but better in one or two more years.

Rose hips with a touch of white pepper to the racy red berries and dried watermelon on the nose. Firm and bright on the palate with nicely chewy tannins and bone-dry fruit that cleanses the palate. Better in one more year.

A nice touch of white pepper funk with tangy berries, crushed chalk, pomegranates and wild raspberries. This is firm and ethereal at the same time, with plenty of chalky tannins that upload the fruit to the pristine, lengthy finish. Delicate and rather vulnerable.

About PEDRO PARRA Y FAMILIA

PEDRO PARRA Y FAMILIA

After 15 years of travelling around the world as a terroir consultant, Pedro decided it was time to make wines that he likes to drink and to create a legacy for his family. He wanted to make pure terroir driven wines from granitic soils in and around his home of Concepción in the Itata Valley, South Central Chile. He is a leader in the ‘New Chile’ wine movement making wine in areas that were previously considered too extreme to make premium wine.
