Wine Anorak, October 2019

This is an interesting parcel with a 40% slope to the south and white marl soils (like a young clay). Sweet and lush with nice black cherries with a sweet texture and some warmth, as well as hints of reduction. Nice grip, warm finish.

Beaujolais Villages Les Jeunes Pousses 2018

Beaujolais, France

It is a serious Beaujolais Villages for the appellation, the color is quite deep, the tannins are fine but present, we find notes of white pepper and strawberries characteristic of these granite soils. This is a wine we can drink even in its youth.

This wine has raspberry and cranberry bouquet, floral with subtle vanilla notes emerging with time. The medium-bodied palate with a velvety texture offers sappy red fruit and the whole bunch lends freshness and a subtle pepperiness toward the finish.

Moulin-à-Vent Les Rouchaux 2018

Beaujolais, France

584037 | 12x750ml | Spec

$63.71*
* Suggested retail price

Single parcel located in the commune of Romanàche-Thorins, planted 65 years ago. This site is predominantly clay, very different than the other sites in this cru. Clusters from Les Rouchaux have even ripening and roundness in the concentration with more elegant tannins. This makes the wine very approachable in its youth.

About THIBAULT LIGER-BELAIR

THIBAULT LIGER-BELAIR

In 2001 Thibault created Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair, which includes two hectares in les Saint-Georges 0.6 hectares of the 4 hectare Grand Cru vineyard of Richebourg, as well as holdings in Clos Vougeot and a collection of well-placed Premier Cru and Villages sites. Recent acquisitions in Moulin a Vent have expanded the domaine into Beaujolais. All are biodynamically farmed; and the attention to detail in the winemaking is second to none.
