Decanter on ARNOT-ROBERTS
|
|
The pair are an integral part of a growing wine movement in California that champions restraint and purity. The momentum of which has shifted both the landscape and expectations of what the state can deliver. Arnot-Roberts represents a forward-thinking era of winemaking in the US and the scramble to secure them on release is testament to their quality and popularity.

Vinous, January 2023
The 2021 Chardonnay Watson Ranch is broad, creamy and super-expressive. Dried pear, apricot, chamomile, dried flowers, mint and herbs are nicely laced together in this savory, expressive Chardonnay. Give it a few years in bottle to soften.

Vinous,
The 2020 Chardonnay Trout Gulch Vineyard is laser focused and vibrant, as it is in its best years. Crushed rocks, mint, white pepper, lemon peel and white flowers all race out of the glass. Bright saline notes extend the finish effortlessly. The 2020 is very nicely done, and also a great example of this Santa Cruz Mountains site.

James Suckling, February 2022
Blackberry, black cherry and baking spice on the nose. Full-bodied with firm, grippy tannins. Dried herbs and spice blend with a bit of cedar and pine. Earthy and savory, but still full of fruit. Well balanced with very good intensity. This will do well with some age.

James Suckling, February 2022
Ground black and white-pepper aromas jump out of the glass with pine and red fruit as well. Medium-to full-bodied with firm tannins. Such a lovely toasted expression of ground and whole spice, bark and crushed blackberry. What a tasty wine! Drink or hold. Tasted from a magnum.
