Created in 1995, Biodyvin is a group of 225 winegrowers essentially in France, but also Belgium, Germany, Greece, Italy, Moldavia, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland. Only properties that are farmed entirely biodynamically, or those that have committed to full conversion after three years, are accepted.

In 1998, the members judged it essential to define the fundamental principles that members must adhere to in order to be able to describe itself as a biodynamic operator.

A set of specifications for viticulture and vinification was established. All members must adhere to this criteria.

James Suckling, March 2023

A remarkable pinot gris that radically breaks the mold. Although this has stunning roasted apricot and smoky aromas in the nose it is actually a very cool and restrained wine with enormous mineral tension. Some may find this too extreme, but for us it has an almost overwhelming beauty. From biodynamically grown grapes.

About ZIND-HUMBRECHT

ZIND-HUMBRECHT

Olivier Humbrecht is one of the world's most renowned winegrowers. A Master of Wine who has been described by Robert Parker as the greatest white winemaker on earth. Yet he is very soft spoken, humble, and self-deprecating. He is a champion of terroir, biodynamic farming principles, and non-interventionist winemaking, whose family have been winegrowers in Alsace for 12 generations (since 1620).

Caring for the soil - Biodynamics

After trials of production of their own compost, Olivier was convinced of the merits of bio-dynamic agriculture and in 1997 the Domaine started practicing bio-dynamic agriculture in the vineyards.
The Domaine was certified organic by Ecocert in 1998; the same year the Domaine joined the Biodyvin group. Olivier Humbrecht MW has been the president of the Syndicat International des Vignerons en Culure Bio-Dynamique/ Biodyvin (SIVCBD) since 2002.
