Fruit is sourced from the Southern Valleys. Predominantly destemmed and matured for 11 months prior to blending. Steeped rosehips, goji berries and baked blackberries. Split sapote, cocoa pods, granite and tar. A wild lilac or two. Oak notes are subtle and well integrated, letting the fruit core shine. Tannins are sandy and fine with a cassia bark spice. The 2021 DV Catena Tinto Histórico was produced with a blend of 75% Malbec, 18% Bonarda and 7% Petit Verdot matured in oak barrels for eight to 14 months, depending on the lot, as the grapes were vinified and aged separately. It has a medium-bodied palate and enough spice and tastiness to keep the juicy, fruit-driven profile. It finishes long, clean and tasty in a classical style. 138,000 bottles were filled in June 2022.

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva incorporates a 1% dash of Petit Verdot, sourced from Cunaco in the Colchagua Valley. Thirty-nine percent was aged for 11 months in oak barrels, while the remainder was kept in concrete vats and stainless steel tanks. With a purple hue, it offers aromas of balsamic and currants soaring over a minty and oaky core. Dry, rich and juicy, the reactive tannins lead to a robust mouthfeel. This flavorful red embodies the tannic character of Colchagua. |
