Product notes

The 2018 vintage in Montalcino is certainly one to get excited about – particularly for those who love fresh, floral vintages packed with tension. Vintages like this are becoming ever rarer in today’s warming climate, and therefore all the more precious.

Production notes

Since 1580, the wine cellars at Argiano have been renowned for its great Tuscan wines. Brunello di Montalcino is Argiano’s soul and identity: elegant, fine, and at the same time, full-bodied and built for aging, this wine is always made of 100% Sangiovese from soils composed of marl, ancient clay with high-level of limestone, planted at an altitude from 280 to 310 meters a.s.l. The vines range in age from 60 to 12 years old, trained in spurred Cordon, and farmed with organic methods, yielding a very quantity of grapes per hectare.

Tasting notes

Brunello di Montalcino is distinguished by its elegance and its deep ruby red colour. Good concentration on the mid-palate and a persistent aftertaste, with a rounded body and silky tannins. A vibrant combination of potency and elegance, with tempting perfumes of red berries and clean freshness. Complex with excellent balance.

June 2023 (Vintage 2018)

Rose, strawberry and cherry aromas and flavors are the main themes in this red, along with wild herb, mineral and cut hay accents. Racy and full of energy, with a long, saturated finish. - (#1 Wine Spectator Top 100, 2023)

November 2022 (Vintage 2018)

A bright and fresh 2018 with cherry and floral aromas and flavors. Medium body, refined tannins and a linear finish with bright acidity. Tangy and energetic. Tight at the end. A year or two will open it, but already a beauty.
