About this winery

At heart, Catena is a story about family. Family who poured their lives, passion and spirit into transforming scrub-laden desert into some of the most beautiful and unique vineyards in the world. Product notes

"La Marchingiana" honours the natural and sulfate-free homemade wine legacy with this very limited production. "Naked wines in which only grapes and terroir speak."

February 2020 (Vintage 2019)

Blackberry and dried and crushed flowers on the nose. Full body. Dried orange and lemon flavors with very soft tannins and a vivid finish. Fun. No sulfur and made in amphora.

March 2021 (Vintage 2020)

“Lots of crushed berries and hints of walnuts and mahogany. Some thyme. It’s soft and round with pleasing tannins and a fruity, creamy-textured finish. No sulfur added. Fermented and aged in amphora. So delicious now.”

August 2021

“Despite the heat of eastern Mendoza, which usually produces heavy flavors and high alcohol, this is a fresh and vibrant red full of tension. Thanks to early harvests, it has firm acidity that helps the fruit express itself in a much juicier and livelier way. This bonarda was fermented in clay amphorae and then aged in them for eight months before being bottled.”

May 2021 (Vintage 2020)

“Part of an impressive range of natural wines from Ale Vigil and the Catenas, this unoaked Bonarda is made with fruit from eastern Mendoza. Fresh and juicy, it has sappy liquorice, plum and blueberry flavours and tangy supporting acidity.”

2022 (Vintage 2020)

One to open in the summer, well chilled from the beginning to the end of a barbecue. This bonarda from sandy soils in the eastern zone at an altitude of 750 meters has the variety's fruity quality. It’s generous in black fruits, but with a bonus of uncommon freshness.
