About this winery

The Delormes of Domaine de la Mordorée are a lovely family, committed to their terroir in the broadest possible sense. For them 'terroir' is not merely an expression of geology or geography: rather it is a concept that embraces the totality of life in the place where they live and everything about the way they conduct their lives in that place. They consider themselves to be 'guardiens' of the local ecology, which is why they farm biodynamically, and why they have chosen 'la Mordorée' as...

Tasting notes

A beautiful rosé with bluish reflections. Aromas of strawberry, cherry, currant, pink grapefruit and tangerine, with delicate notes of old roses. Round and fresh on the palate. A wonderful pairing with fish, white meats, shellfish, spicy and oriental dishes.

Vivid orange. Mineral- and spice-tinged red berry, pit fruit and citrus pith aromas are complemented by a sexy floral nuance. Densely packed and energetic in the mouth, offering juicy red currant, cherry, blood orange and candied rose flavors that turn sweeter through the back half. The mineral and floral notes repeat on the lively, penetrating finish, which hangs on with serious tenacity

Editors' Choice

August 2022 (Vintage 2021)

Deeply concentrated and penetrating with blackberry and black cherry flavors, this pale ruby rosé offers the zesty fruit character that rosé lovers demand alongside an intensity and structure craved by red wine drinkers. A touch more spry than the producer's more richly concentrated La Reine des Bois, it's a delicately spiced, pepper-edged rosé that can be enjoyed year-round.

Joe Czerwinski, May 2023 (Vintage 2022)

The 2022 Tavel La Dame Rousse is on the lighter-hued side for Tavel, but it is still a full-bodied, full-flavored effort. A blend of 60% Grenache, 15% Cinsault, 15% Syrah and 10% Clairette, it offers up scents of crushed stone, alpine strawberries, watermelon and a touch of garrigue on the nose, while being pleasantly expansive and rich in the mouth, with a lingering, gently persistent finish.

The 2020 Tavel La Dame Rousse is another classic Tavel that brings plenty of richness yet has wonderful freshness, purity, and length. Ample raspberry and ripe cherry fruits, medium body, good acidity, and subtle spice and garrigue notes all make for a brilliant rosé that can stand on its own on a hot summer day or shine on the dinner table.

March 2022 (Vintage 2021)

"Attractively juicy and easy to enjoy, thanks to the generous red-berry, nectarine and citrus-peel character on the nicely balanced, medium-bodied palate. Crisp finish with a touch of tannin giving it drive. A blend dominated by grenache and syrah. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink now.”
