Product notes

The Barossa experienced a wetter and cooler (2°C) than average winter and spring with good soil moisture levels. Vines grew slowly but healthily, mostly flowering well and setting a good number of bunches. The rest of the year remained dry and warm which made way for perfect grape ripening weather that produced balanced sugars, colours and natural acidity.

Production notes

Grapes were harvested from the end of March until mid-April. The wine was matured in seasoned American and French oak barrels for 10 months.

Tasting notes

Medium depth crimson with purple hues. A rich and lifted aroma of red and blueberries jump out of the glass with jammy notes and hints of black olive adding to the complexity. Ripe and juicy berries flow through the medium bodied palate. Soft and velvety tannins add a lovely structure and texture to the wine while sweet and briary spices balance the juicy fruit on the finish.

August 2019

From 10-20yo vines in Penrice and Light Pass, matured in used American and French oak. Over-delivers with its almost wanton display of luscious fruits. There's no oak per se, but the wine feels open, not the least reduced. Great value, and ready when you are.

June 2019

A very plump, fleshy and supple style with a bright, round core of red fruit that sits in very approachable mode. A blend of 96% shiraz and 4% viognier.

Anthony Gismondi, February 2022 (Vintage 2019)

There is only two percent viognier in the mix, but it does what it is supposed to do: lift the shiraz off the floor and give the wine a kickstart. The nose is aromatic with plums and blueberries mixed with soft, sweet fruit and plenty of savoury notes. It is a wine for the barbecue: rich, round and drinkable. A great wine for summer backyard parties.

September 2020

This is a soft, supple and richly fruited style with generous aromas and flavors of blackberries and spiced blueberries. The palate is very approachable, softly structured and fleshy with ripe-blackberry flavors throughout. Just 1% viognier in the mix here.

Ripe dark fruit and very much showing the Viognier component with its floral aromas and white peach character on the palate.
