Product notes

This collection is Langmeil’s purist representation of premium regional wines which concentrate on those varieties that the Barossa does best. By supporting over forty local Barossa family growers, some of which are fifth and sixth generation Barossa growers that hail from many of the varied ‘Villages’ and sub-regions, we can in turn create regional Barossa blends that provide the winemaking team a cross section of developed flavour profiles to showcase. The 2019 Valley Floor Shiraz is medium to deep crimson with purple hues. A fine combination of hands-on winemaking and vineyard diversity results in pure Barossa Shiraz. This is why the Valley Floor Shiraz has received the Barossa Trust Mark.

Tasting notes

Rich and lifted aromas of Satsuma plum, mulberry and floral notes mingle with sweet spice, chocolate and savoury hints. Complex, medium to full bodied wine showing hints of mocha, bramble and vanilla. Rich, plumy fruit and sweet spice balanced by soft velvety tannins which flow through to the lengthy, fruity, peppery and spicy finish.

January 2022 (Vintage 2019)

A rich aroma with evolving blackcurrant and damson notes with some spicy, smoky accents. There is prominent oak evident on the palate which is full and rounded with supportive tannins. A delicious style, certainly not a blockbuster, and more elegant in style.

July 2023 (Vintage 2020)

Matured for 24 months in American oak (14% new) and seasoned American and French oak hogsheads. Magenta in the glass with aromas of blood plum, mulberry and boysenberry cut with baking spices, dark chocolate, almond blossom, white pepper, licorice and earth. Fruit-pure with fine, sandy tannins and a nice flow of plummy fruit on the finish.

June 2022 (Vintage 2019)

A blend of shiraz fruit from vines aged 9–100+ years, from across the parishes of 97/3% Barossa/Eden Valleys. A dark chocolatey core is evident here, enveloped by ripe plum and berry fruits along with hints of spice box, dill, dried herbs, licorice and earth. Rich and spicy on the palate with an Old Jamaica chocolate vibe; fine of tannin and in the classic Barossan style.

March 2023 (Vintage 2020)

The 2020 Valley Floor is a blend of Shiraz with touches of Cabernet Sauvignon and Durif, delivering a rich meaty core of blackberry, licorice and tarry fruits. A big and chunky palate follows. A solid backbone of chewy tannins backs granite and earthy flavors with attractive meaty spices to finish.

September 2023 (Vintage 2020)

Plush, classic Barossa aromas of plum preserves, licorice, ground black pepper, chocolate and cedar flow to a round, almost glycerin-like palate. Textural, savory tannins knit together oodles of plump tangy plum fruit.

August 2020

Produced from 10 rows of vines planted pre-1860 that were about to be bulldozed, but saved and replanted at Langmeil, matured for 23 months in French hogsheads (40% new). Curiously 83% Barossa Valley, 17% Eden Valley. It's full-bodied, and the fruit flavours are slightly blurred by the alcohol.

July 2021 (Vintage 2018)

Expressive and evolving, with firm acidity driving sweet, super-succulent blueberry and strawberry, before the vanilla-toned finale.
