Product notes

Marlborough experienced a mild-to-cool spring period, which ensured that the vines naturally produced lighter than average yields. These mild temperatures then extended into the summer months, coupled with an unseasonal period of rain, which ultimately alleviated the drought conditions experienced over the past two years. Carrying lighter than usual crops along with the cooler weather meant vintage started only a week later than previous years. The resulting wine is showing the wonderful typicity that their Seaview and Wairau vineyards are known for – highly aromatic fruit flavours of passionfruit and fresh herbs, vibrancy, purity and minerality.

Production notes

Carefully selected parcels from the Seaview Vineyard in the Awatere Valley were harvested individually over a two week period. At the winery, the fruit was crushed, destemmed and gently pressed. The juice was cold settled for 72 hours, after which the clear juice was racked off, followed by a long cool fermentation in stainless steel to capture and enhance the fruit flavours. Each of the individual parcels were fermented separately using a range of selected yeasts, after which the wine was blended, stabilized and filtered in preparation for bottling.

Tasting notes

Lifted notes of blackcurrant leaf and passionfruit, underpinned with aromas of fresh herbs and lemon zest. The palate is brimming with juicy fruit that is balanced with a long, crisp mineral finish. Enjoy with both fresh and cooked seafood dishes such as oysters, prawns, green lip mussels and fish. Suitable for vegetarians, vegans and gluten free diets.

Racy, pungent, mouthwatering.
I love the name land made, because wine comes from the land, with a little help from man, of course.

It is a racy and precise wine that will have your mouth watering before your first sip. Notes of mineral, saline, gooseberry, passionfruit lime, lemongrass and green apples pop out of the glass. It is mouthwatering, pungent and razor sharp. A lengthy and honest savvy, which will make you pucker up.

Bright, very pale straw colour, with slight green hues. The nose is elegant and well-proportioned with soft aromas of pungent passionfruit melded harmoniously with notes of tropical fruits, fresh herbs and suggestions of minerals. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has a rounded, dense and relatively deep and concentrated core of pungent passionfruit, green capsicums and herbs. The flavours ae up-front and the palate has the energy and body to form a soft-textured, positively driven core, with lacy acidity providing liveliness. The wine carries to an elegant, lingering finish of passionfruit and herbs. This is an up-front, soft and rounded, well-packed Sauvignon Blanc with passionfruit, herb and capsicum flavours with good freshness.
