GOLD MEDAL

Août 2021

Sourced from 3 vineyards in Piccadilly, Lobethal and the estate’s high-elevation Lenswood block. Whole-bunch pressed, fermented and matured on lees in French barriques and puncheons. The first thing that strikes you is an elegance that is so fundamental to the style and respectful to the elite fruit within. The faintest of oak lifts adds a complexity to start, but the energy and concentration of the fruit become the prime focus on the palate. It's all about chardonnay's finest flavours and a vibrant acidity to drive it long into the future.

Juin 2022 (Millésime 2021)

Hand-picked, whole bunch-pressed, fermented and matured in French oak. Its crystal clear quartz-green hue signals the ’21 vintage in all its glory, the bouquet and palate a seamless array of nectarine, grapefruit and cashew. The feel and flow of the aftertaste implore a second glass.

James Suckling, Juillet 2020 (Millésime 2019)

This is a very concentrated, complex and refined chardonnay that locks in on very intense white peaches, lemons and grapefruit, framed in a wealth of fresh, spicy, young French oak, as well as flinty elements. The palate has mouthwateringly fresh acidity, powering fresh lemon and peach flavors into a long, tautly wound finish. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Août 2020 (Millésime 2019)

The nose presents a strong and compelling argument: firm white peach, pretty lemon blossom, a whiff of charred oak and a puff of graphite lurking beneath struck flint. Strikingly reminiscent of Penfolds' Bin Reserve Bin A, it helps define a new high-watermark for Adelaide Hills Chardonnay. With a slender, nimble palate that is deceptively long, its clean persistent flavours and subtle complexity leaves you contemplative long after the glass is empty.

Juin 2021

Beautiful elegance and purity, a wonderfully harmonious assemblage of the richness of white peach, the crunch of grapefruit, the complexity of subtle struck flint reduction and the understated support of classy French oak. Brilliant zest and verve of crystalline acidity define an outstanding finish of sensational lineand length.

2021 (Millésime 2020)

Ripe peach, lemon and plenty of toasted hazelnut oak, sitting on a mix of flint and wet
stones. The palate has great density and depth with concentrated peach and lemon. A
little pastry, too. Smooth, with bright acidity. Impressive depth and balance here.

Janvier 2025 (Millésime 2023)

Wonderfully constructed, showing polished aromas of lime curd, lemon balm, orange blossoms and gun smoke on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with precise acidity and a generous mouthfeel, giving notes of fresh pineapple, white peaches, lime curd and shortbread.

Octobre 2022 (Millésime 2021)

This is such a beautifully crafted Adelaide Hills chardonnay! Complex, flinty nose with notes of toasted baguette, lime zest, Asian pear and fresh pineapple. I love the underplayed power on the very focused, medium-bodied palate. Fine tannins underline the long and intense wet-stone finish.

Avril 2025 (Millésime 2024)

Precise, minerally and laser focused with a lovely hint of reduction, giving aromas of salty lemon peel, grapefruit, pie crust, nectarines and flint. The palate is tightly wound with a medium-bodied mouthfeel and a creamy yet energetic and bright palate, showing flavors of white peaches, pomelo and nectarines. A tightly wound and bright wine that will evolve nicely over time.

Avril 2021 (Millésime 2020)

Savoury notes take the lead in a striking tenor voice. Lacks the feistiness of previous vintages, but 2020 was hardly kind in the Hills. Clean, firm, proud and very well built, this is the elegant, talented diplomat that shows no emotion.

Août 2025 (Millésime 2024)

A fine, flinty, tense and taut chardonnay set to a leaner expression. Still, it dials in enough peachy fruit, tart citrus freshness and lithe nougat notes, with touches of green herb and cinnamon spice in tow. That reads like a good and long list, and it is. The wine offers drinkers a more refreshing, fine expression, with minerality as a byword. Very polished, too. Neat.

Août 2024 (Millésime 2023)

A mellow and understated chardonnay but with plenty of detail in spice, gentle savouriness and winemaking seasoning, cool acidity, a tightly wound fruit profile, general minerality and high drinkability. Overall, elegant and refined, sleek across the palate and quite compact with a light juiciness in tow. Nougat, lime curd, green apple and ginger in the bouquet, a similar set of descriptors to taste, with a lively trail of spice following on. High in the pleasure stakes, this continues to be an impressive Hills chardonnay.

Avril 2023 (Millésime 2022)

A sleek, mid-weighted & very contemporary chardonnay, embellishing a pungent mineral chassis with roasted cashew, nougat and curdy creaminess. Vanilla-cedar oak, an integrated framework. Apricot pith, white peach and nectarine, too. The acidity, palpably natural of feel and really juicy, towing impressive length. One of the better recent iterations of this rightly popular cuvee.

Août 2024 (Millésime 2022)

Stunning and sleek, with intensity and precision to the citrus, pear and white peach flavors. Offers notes of orange blossom and jasmine, with notes of fresh-cut Fuji apple and buttery shortbread on the mouthwatering finish.

Juin 2025 (Millésime 2024)

The 2024 M3 Chardonnay is creamy and nutty, with a sophisticated mid-palate that oozes custard apples, pastry, cashews, lemon pith and spring flowers. The texture is seamless and the length very good. This is a class act, and it's looking so good through the lens of the 2024 season.

Juin 2025 (Millésime 2024)

The 2024 Chardonnay M3 is charming and unforced, with waves of grapefruit, blossom and honeydew melon neatly wrapped in spicy French oak. Beautifully composed, a touch of smoky reduction is counterbalanced by bright, energetic flavors delivered over a fine, chalky-textured palate. This will be superb after a little time in the cellar.
