About this winery

Founded in 1825, Domaine Faiveley is one of Burgundy's greatest domaines. Originally the company was a classic negotiant business, based in Nuits St. Georges and engaged in the buying and selling of wine but not the production of it. After seven generations of steadily acquiring properties throughout the Cotes de Nuits, the Cotes de Beaune, Cotes Chalonnaise and now Chablis, the Faiveley family have established themselves as the most important vineyard owners in Burgundy, with 125 hectares of...

Product notes

The hand-picked harvest first goes through a short prefermentary maceration before the winemaking. For the whole 15 to 18 days of the vatting period, the wines are kept at low temperature.

Production notes

The wines are aged in oak barrels for 14 to 16 months, in 19th century vaulted cellars which provide ideal conditions for raising wines. The proportion of new oak, which may vary according to the vintage, represents on average two third of the cuvée. Those barrels come from high quality barrel makers and have been rigorously selected for their fine grain and light toast.

Tasting notes

The nose reveals oaky, fruity and spicy aromas. Then comes a full, round attack on the palate with velvety, silky tannins and a nice balance. This wine is characterized by its finesse, charm and elegance.

April 2019

A touch of gaminess in the aroma gives way to blackberry, black cherry, earth and iron flavors in this rich, solidly structured red. Vibrant and balanced, though this needs a little time to integrate. Terrific length.

December 2017

Bright and bursting with cherry and currant aromas and flavors, shaded by earth and spice accents. This is balanced, staying fresh and long.

Bruce Sanderson, 2016 (Vintage 2013)

This red reveals bright cherry, earth and tea flavors, balanced with the open-knit structure. The moderately long finish echoes cherry fruit.
