About this winery

Viu Manent is a historic, family-owned winery located in the heart of Chile’s renowned Colchagua Valley. Founded in 1935 by Catalan immigrant Miguel Viu García and his sons, the winery originally operated as a wine trading company in Santiago. Production notes

The grapes were destemmed and crushed into a tank for alcoholic fermentation at 26–28ºC. Fermentation was very gentle to prevent over-extraction to obtain a friendlier, more elegant, and better-balanced wine ending with a post-fermentation maceration for 7–10 days with 85% of the wine finishing the Malolactic fermentation in barrels. Approximately 39% of the wine aged for 11 months in used French oak barrels and the remaining 61% aged in concrete tanks.

July 2024 (Vintage 2022)

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva incorporates a 1% dash of Petit Verdot, sourced from Cunaco in the Colchagua Valley. Thirty-nine percent was aged for 11 months in oak barrels, while the remainder was kept in concrete vats and stainless steel tanks. With a purple hue, it offers aromas of balsamic and currants soaring over a minty and oaky core. Dry, rich and juicy, the reactive tannins lead to a robust mouthfeel. This flavorful red embodies the tannic character of Colchagua.
