Made using a dry farming philosophy – leaving nature to provide all water for the vines without irrigation – not only decreases water usage but, say Montes, increases the quality of fruit and mouthfeel. This has a meaty, savoury nose and a fairly soft but full bodied palate of prunes, violets and blackcurrant jam. With a striking purple colour in the glass, this is not one to spill on the carpet!
