Get ready to inhale the powerful, heady scents of this decadent red blend the moment you fill your glass. Supremely ripe fruit detonates with the finest black current jam, plums, and what I admire most, a inky, graphite complexity (just the way a thick newspaper smells). Despite all the fruit heft that unfurls in the mouth like blueberry pie filling and creme de cassis, acidity and fresh herbal notes lift it nicely, as does well-handled oak that adds spice and gloss without heaviness. Super-clarety, in a very ripe sort of way, and a highly drinkable full-bodied, potent red. Goes down with ease now, but you can age for five years too.
