"A blend of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Merlot, the 2011 Chianti Classico Riserva manages to retain its 'Tuscan personality' with virtual ease. Dark ruby in colour with a touch of red currant, it boasts very beautiful aromas of red cherries and currants; switching to cedar, licorice, roasted game, and an intriguing hint of salted pork and spice. Complex, carrying very lovely fruit, firm tannins, balanced acidity, and a marvellous hint of red cherries and cedarwood (extremely subtle) on the finish. Superbly elegant, balanced, and focused.
