Here's a delicious version of the rather rare freisa grape, a relative (likely parent) of nebbiolo, from the storied house of Borgogno. The colour is relatively deep, though still only medium garnet red, while the nose is all crushed red fruit, dried leaves, fresh tobacco and and strawberry leaf. Tannins are firm and dusty though light overall, and acids are juicy and succulent in the typical Piedmontese fashion. This is the sort of wine I could sip all evening with a wide variety of food based on protein, fat and salt like charcuterie.
