About this winery

René Rostaing is known as a Côte Rôtie Specialist, renowned for producing tiny quantities of extraordinarily refined Côte Rôtie wines, which in the words of Robert Parker are "reminiscent of Grand Cru Burgundy in their delicacy, elegance and sublime qualities." February 2026 (Vintage 2023)

Gorgeous black raspberries, smoky herbs, violets, and a beautiful sense of minerality all define the aromatics of the 2023 Côte Rôtie Côte Brune, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a pure, graceful, layered yet focused mouthfeel, just about perfect tannins, and a great finish. It will need just 4-5 years of bottle age and should evolve for two decades.

Matt Walls, September 2024 (Vintage 2023)

Very soft, generous, enveloping tannins, with violets and rose, blackberries and raspberries. Has good concentration and ripeness. It's a bold, rounded style of Côte-Rôtie with great freshness and tension to the structure. Long, grippy and tannic, it has an assertive, edgy and fresh nature to the tannins. This will need a long time. Four weeks in tank, 18 months in oak (limited new), natural yeasts, and as many stems as possible.
