Notes about product

The estate sits on 50 hectares with vines over 30 years old, on volcanic soils at different elevations, guaranteeing an overall balance. The surrounding terrior is also home to orange and lemon trees, Pachino cherry tomatoes, vegetables, and olive trees.

Winemaking notes

Controlled-temperature fermented and macerated for about 20 days. Aged in french oak barrels for 12-14 months and bottle aged for 6 months prior to release.

Tasting notes

Aromas of ripe fruit and sweet, elegant notes of spice. Explosive and full-bodied, yet very fresh and bursting with charisma.

October 2018

A more subtle Saia than in the past with freshly picked mulberries, elderberries, tobacco, cedar and resin. Full-bodied and very tight on the palate with polished tannins and a long finish. The combination of dark fruit and minerals is irresistible.

92+ POINTS

December 2018

A pure expression of Nero d'Avola, the 2016 Sicilia Saia is a rich and contemporary expression of this versatile Sicilian grape. The bouquet is layered and rich with plump cherry nuances followed by tobacco, spice and charred earth. This is a lavish and soft wine that maintains a mid- to full-bodied approach with soft tannins and sweet fruit endnotes.
