About this winery

Jean-Marc Brocard's origins lie in the Côte d'Or, a farmer's son from the village of Chaudenay-le-Château, not even the son of the vigneron. Following his father’s advice Jean-Marc studied Engineering leaving behind agricultural life. It was an accident of marriage that brought him to wine when he married Claudine (his childhood sweetheart), a vigneron's daughter from the village of St-Bris-le-Vineux in the valley of Yonne. Production notes

Implanted at the leftmost West/Southwestern end of the Grands Crus, the Grand Cru Bougros shows great strength of character and will go wonderfully well with your fish dishes.

Tasting notes

Nose oyster shell, spicy, bark orange. In the mouth: fine minerality, mandarin aroma. An energizing and digestible wine.

December 2020

Lemon oil, flint and creaminess unite on this wine's subtle nose. The palate comes in with a rounded, creamy presence that combines yeasty richness, textural charm and chalky depth with the ripeness and freshness of lemon oil. This wine is concentrated, energetic and bold, channeling its drive towards a lasting finish that lets lemon and chalk speak clearly.

June 2022 (Vintage 2021)

The 2021 Chablis Bougros Grand Cru has an attractive bouquet with scents of honeysuckle, struck flint and light wild peach scents. I admire the purity here. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, quite taut on the entry with modest depth. There is a sense of strictness on the finish in keeping with the style of the millesime, though there is fine length and a touch of residual spiciness that lingers on the aftertaste.

October 2019

A background application of wood surrounds notably phenolic elements (think olive oil nuances) together with aromas of both white and yellow orchard fruit that are nuanced by iodine and sea breeze wisps. I very much like the intensity of the solidly constituted medium weight plus flavors that deliver excellent length on the rustic, bold and muscular finish. This is still a bit raw but the underlying material is impressive.

October 2021 (Vintage 2020)

Ripe green fruit aromas are laced with hints of spice, wood and oyster shell. There is excellent volume and mid-palate density to the tension-filled big-bodied flavors that evident a taut muscularity on the balanced, long, compact and lemony finale. This is a quality Bougros that is built to reward mid-term cellaring
