Notes about product

The first load of Shiraz was nearly booked for the end of January. Fortunately, a timely rain and mild conditions delayed the start allowing flavour and colour to catch up with sugar. Considering the dry winter, yields generally were a little above average. This vintage really highlights how tenacious and robust grape vines are, producing good yields and great quality in a very dry season.

Winemaking notes

Aged 18% new and 82% old French Oak for 22 months.

Tasting notes

Bright and rich berry fruits coat the palate and mingle with brambly spice, hints of black olive and licorice. Full bodied with velvety, fine, grape and oak tannin adding to the structure which flows onto the long, fruitful and spicy finish.

May 2019

A well made, heady and complex red with aromas of herbs and chocolate. Sexy and seductive, this is a very mouth-coating, rich and caramel-salty-style with supreme concentration and poise. Kudos.

February 2020

Vines planted '71, matured in French hogsheads (33% new, 67% second-fill) for 25 months. There's no question about the blackcurrant/black olive/savoury varietal cabernet profile. The French oak isn't hiding, simply standing side by side with the fruit. All up it beats expectations.

June 2019

A sturdy and forthright cabernet that has plenty of rich plums and blackcurrants and adds a layer of chocolate and spice, as it builds into a composed, long finish. A sturdy vintage of this wine.

June 2019

The 2016 Jackaman's Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the best vintage I've tasted of this wine, from a year that's rapidly becoming a favorite. Cedar shavings add a note of refinement to this wine's concentrated cassis and mint flavors. It's medium to full-bodied, supple yet structured, with plenty of length to the mouthwatering finish.
