About this winery

The Gimonnet family has been growing vines in Champagne since 1750. In 1935 Pierre Gimonnet, grandfather of current owners Didier and Olivier, began producing champagne in the village of Cuis. Didier and Olivier own 30 hectares in total; 16 hectares are Premier Cru from the village of Cuis. A high percentage of their vineyards are Grand Cru - 12 hectares in total, spread across the villages of Cramant, Chouilly, Oger and Aÿ. The Grand Cu vineyards have an average age of 40 years. December 2021

A very pale rosé champagne with delicate strawberry and raspberry aromas, but this is as much about the elegance of chardonnay as anything else. Long, filigree finish that’s all berry flavors and hard to resist! A cuvée of 94% chardonnay from Cramant, Chouilly, Oger, Cuis and Vertus with 6% pinot noir from Bouzy.

May 2022

The NV Brut Rosé de Blancs is gorgeous. It offers notable depth and texture to play off its vibrant, chiseled personality. Cranberry, mint, white pepper and crushed rocks fill out the layers effortlessly. There's a ton to like in this captivating Rosé from Gimonnet.

November 2023

A medium salmon color, the NV Champagne Rosé De Blancs Brut is based on the 2016 vintage and is almost entirely Chardonnay, with 8% red wine of Pinot Noir added from the Grand Cru village of Bouzy. The wine opens to a perfume of cantaloupe, honeysuckle, pastry dough, and grapefruit zest, and it’s chalky in its texture through the palate, with an ease and approachability that are quite charming while feeling fully dry. This is a very pretty wine to enjoy over the next 6-8 years, although I like it where it is now.

November 2023

Didier, part of the third generation of the Gimonnet family, oversees the winemaking of their family winery, based in Cuis, in the heart of the Côtes de Blancs. This wine, like all of their chardonnay-centric wines, is laser focused. According to Didier, he wants a rosé that tastes like a blanc de blancs with colour. "Powerful chardonnay." It certainly succeeds. This bottling sources fruit from Cramant, Oger, and Chouilly, adding 5% Bouzy still pinot noir. This pale-hued rosé champagne is as light as a rosé champagne can be, with tight wild strawberry, subtle raspberry, pink florals, crisp green apple, white grapefruit rind, and subtle fresh green herbs, along a sleek and narrow palate. As always, this tastes the most chardonnay a rosé champagne can be, and is so very singular and charming for it. Enjoy, liberally, if you love chardonnay but want to pair it with wild mushrooms / salmon canapés.
