About this winery

Thibault Liger-Belair comes from a great winemaking family that has deep roots in Burgundy: he is a direct descendant of the Napoleonic General Louis Liger-Belair, who acquired the Chateau de Vosne in 1815 when he married Ludovie Marey, whose family had been Burgundy negociants since 1720. Youthful, passionate and always full of ideas, Thibault trained as an oenologist, but had his start in the wine industry as a wine buyer. He is also a former rugby player with a genuine 'down to earth'...

Notes about product

The Vineyard is 0.40 ha and was planted in 1962. The Vineyard is located on the border of the Premiers Crus of (Argilats and Bousselots) in the northern part of the appellation, its name is the ideal expression of its character: the finesse of Vosne-Romanée wines with the structure of the wines of Nuits- Saint Georges.

Winemaking notes

The grapes are hand harvested and they use 40% whole clusters fermentation. The fermentation takes place over 3 weeks period with very moderate intervention. The wine is then aged in 40% new French oak barrels for 18 months. They are also unfined and unfiltered.

Tasting notes

Right of the top, this wine envelopes you with a rich brambly red berry fruit and subtle earthy tones. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin. This wine has fresh acidity and a deep finish.

January 2018

Bright red-ruby. Musky, reticent aromas of mocha, leather and earth. Enters the mouth silky and subtly sweet, with its currant and blackberry fruit flavors showing a slight leathery rusticity. Finishes with ripe tannins and sneaky length--and an inviting juiciness.
