About this winery

In 1781, in the small town of Tupin-et-Semons, south of Lyon and within the most prestigious vineyard of the Rhône, Joseph Vidal founded the House of the same name. From the outset, it acquired an international reputation thanks to Thomas Jefferson, then United States Ambassador to France, who visited the estate in 1787. Production notes

Very steep granitic terraces. Warm soils exposed to the south.

Tasting notes

Appearance pale yellow Nose very fresh and complex . Floral, acacia, nutty, White peach,. Palate ample with freshness .

September 2022 (Vintage 2021)

There's a touch of millefeuille pastry on the nose, a little vanilla. Medium- to full-bodied, not as strong in acidity as some 2021s. Finishes on fresh ginger and some cinnamon from the oak. Not hugely concentrated, but vibrant.
