We’re proud to be the custodians to some of the oldest Cabernet Sauvignon vines in the Napa Valley. Our Yountville Cabernet Sauvignon vines were planted in 1959 to the Inglenook clone on St. George rootstock. More than a half century old, these vines have developed a root system that reaches deep into the subsoil to access all the available nutrients. They produce fewer grapes at this age but more concentrated, intense flavors that express a greater depth of terroir and complexity.
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, Yountville Selection is a wine of profound complexity and depth with decadent layers of flavor and aromas. The nose abounds with a bouquet of ripe cassis, raspberry jam, and succulent blueberry layered with hints of red pepper and undertones of sandalwood. Subtle notes of fresh blueberries and blackberries blend with orange peel to stimulate your palate. Fine tannins and lively acidity blend to create a velvety texture elevated by a touch of cocoa powder, giving the wine a lingering, concentrated, and harmonious finish. Enjoy this wine with roasted rack of lamb, Wagyu beef and truffled roasted fingerling potatoes.
Lots of currants and blackberries on the nose with some violets, following through to a full body with round, creamy tannins and a flavorful finish. Nice balance and freshness to this. Always well balanced. From organically grown grapes.
