Production notes

Since 1580, the wine cellars at Argiano have been renowned for its great Tuscan wines. Brunello di Montalcino is Argiano’s soul and identity: elegant, fine, and at the same time, full-bodied and built for aging, this wine is always made of 100% Sangiovese from soils composed of marl, ancient clay with high-level of limestone, planted at an altitude from 280 to 310 meters a.s.l. The vines range in age from 60 to 12 years old, trained in spurred Cordon, and farmed with organic methods, yielding a very quantity of grapes per hectare.

Tasting notes

Brunello di Montalcino is distinguished by its elegance and its deep ruby red colour. Good concentration on the mid-palate and a persistent aftertaste, with a rounded body and silky tannins. A vibrant combination of potency and elegance, with tempting perfumes of red berries and clean freshness. Complex with excellent balance.

June 2026 (Vintage 2021)

This is dense and full of cherry, raspberry, earth, iron and tobacco flavors. A broad base of sinewy tannins lends support, while the lively acidity drives the long aftertaste of red fruit. All of the components are there; this just needs time.

December 2025 (Vintage 2021)

Aromas of cherries, orange blossom and white cedar with a hint of juniper follow through to a medium body, firm and silky tannins and a bright, polished finish. Linear and tight. Lovely length. Succulent and satisfying with a crisp finish. From organically grown grapes.

January 2026 (Vintage 2021)

With more than 500 years of documented winemaking history (with a villa and cellars dating back to 1580), Argiano is one of the oldest and most important estates in Montalcino. The 2021 Brunello di Montalcino shows consistency and a velvety texture with blackberry and blackcurrant. There is good freshness here, and the wine is a rather lean in terms of mouthfeel.

November 2024 (Vintage 2021)

The 2021 Brunello di Montalcino is dark and intense, with a smoldering bouquet of ashen stones, grilled herbs and dried black cherries. It is surprisingly energetic and lifted in feel, with racy red berry fruits and rosy inner florals that form a truly satisfying experience. The 2021 is pleasantly chewy and long, leaving a coating of fine-grained tannins and a nuance of tart blackberry.
