Tasting notes

Rosso di Montalcino is considered the younger sibling of Brunello. Also made from 100% Sangiovese, it is another expression of Brunello’s denomination. Argiano’s Rosso di Montalcino is of noble pedigree and originates from the 30 hectare Sangiovese vineyards surrounding the winery. The variety is Sangiovese grosso, a selected clone perfectly adapted to Argiano’s terroir. It undergoes the same care as its elder counterpart from the management of the vineyard to the bottling.

December 2024 (Vintage 2023)

A graceful wine focused on sweet cinnamon, red fruit and licorice. Light-bodied, on the palate, it shows vivid chalky tannins, a grainy finish and crisp acidity. To be matched with food. From organically grown grapes.

January 2025 (Vintage 2023)

Translucent ruby in color, the 2023 Rosso Di Montalcino is pretty and inviting with a floral bouquet that offers notes of crushed strawberries, roses, and sweet herbs. Medium-bodied, the palate is elegant but also has a light gamey richness underneath, with ripe tannins, a chalky (almost liver-like texture), and a clean finish. The acidity is more modest in this charming, easygoing wine.
