About this winery

Domaine Bonnet-Huteau is located in the heart of Muscadet Sèvre et Maine, 20 minutes from Nantes and 10 km from Clisson, a small town with an Italianate charm along the river Sèvre Nantaise. This domain owns a medieval house which was the origin of the town La Chapelle-Heulin and has been producing Muscadet for over 150 years. The Bonnet-Huteau family runs their vineyard in order to develop the whole range of flavours of Muscadet Sèvre et Maine.

Product notes

This organically produced Muscadet cuvee is the natural expression of a terroir made of green rocks and amphibolites. The vinification was carried out with natural yeasts from the grapes. Following its maturing on the lees, this Muscadet was bottled, without any fining in order not to alter its aromas. This wine will be the perfect accompaniment to seafood, fish and hors-d’oeuvre.

Tasting notes

Refined and expressive, with mineral driven flavours of white peach, lemon and grapefruit on the palate. The perfect accompaniment to seafood, fish and hors d’oeuvres

Treve Ring, October 2023 (Vintage 2022)

Domaine Bonnet-Huteau, nestled in La Chapelle-Heulin, in the heart of Muscadet’s Sèvre et Maine appellation, has been producing Muscadet for over 150 years. Today it is run by the Bonnet brothers, Jean-Jacques and Rémi. This 42 hectare vineyard has been certified organic since 2005, and biodynamic since 2010. They’ve divided their Melon de Bourgogne into parcels to highlight the nuances and subtlety of their individual terroirs, and their focus is on producing pure, fresh, Muscadet. From 20-30 year old vines and profoundly rocky clays and amphibolite fossil-rich volcanic soils, Les Gautronnières was native fermented in stainless, with full MLF and 9 months on lees. Broken stones, subtle wild lemon, green apple waft through this smart and savoury Muscadet, with a grippy / buzzy underlay reflective of the soils, and a well-managed layer of herbal lees adding interest. Still quite tight and poised, this is drinking well now, and with time ahead.
