About this winery

Descending from an old French family that is established in the Netherlands since the 19th century, (where the V became a W) Joost and Miguela de Willebois are passionate about French culture, the medieval period and the Loire Valley. With their four sons, they have settled in Touraine since 1996 where they fell in love with the Loire Sauvignon Blanc. After successful professional careers spanning the globe, they now devote themselves fully to the expansion of J. de Villebois from their family...

Production notes

The grapes are quickly transported to the winery to minimize skin contact before gentle pressing into a pneumatic press. The grape juices are fermented traditionally in stainless steel tanks during 7 to 15 days and also in oak barrels of 228 Litres for a tiny part (~5%).

Tasting notes

A powerful nose with white fruits notes, white peach and pear. Sweet and supple, the palate evolves towards more vivacity, carried by a nice minerality and fresh lemon flavours. A great pairing with fish, grilled prawns, carpaccio scallops, and curried turkey.

#80

November 2023 (Vintage 2020)

The iconic slope of the Mont Damnés vineyard in Chavignol has produced a ripe while also textured wine. It is concentrated, with tense acidity behind the white fruits. The wine will be ready later this year.

August 2022 (Vintage 2020)

Discreet quince and gooseberry on top of the tangy, effusive stony minerality on the nose. Textured and taut on the palate, which is dry and broad and cut through with fresh acidity. Mineral and fruity at the same time. Vegan.
