About this winery

The Latour-Giraud estate has been established in the village of Meursault for many generations. Focused primarily on Meursault, the estate owns an impressive range of Premier Cru and Villages vineyards between 20 and 50+ years old, such as the largest Premier Cru Genevrières vineyard in which two thirds of the vines are more than 50 years old. Like the Bouchères, this is also relatively firmly reduced. On the palate though there is both excellent freshness and verve suffusing the finer and sleeker middleweight flavors that exude evident minerality on the impressively complex, long and impeccably well-balanced finale. This is excellent and a wine that should easily repay a decade plus of keeping. Highly recommended particularly for those who enjoy cellaring their whites.

(from 35+ year old vines in Charmes Dessus). Smoky aromas of vaguely exotic passion fruit, white peach, spice, acacia blossom and plenty of just sliced citrus serve as an elegant introduction to the succulent but energetic flavors that aren’t as dense or powerful as those of the Poruzots but do offer equally good depth and even better persistence on the impeccably well-balanced finale. This is terrific and a wine that should age gracefully.

June 2023 (Vintage 2021)

(from 35+ year old vines in Charmes Dessus). Pungent aromas of wood, reduction and a hint of
phenolic character render the nose unreadable today. More interesting are the dense, powerful and almost painfully intense
larger-scaled flavors that also soak the palate with sappy dry extract that does an excellent job of buffering the firm acid spine
shaping the bone-dry, moderately austere and impressively long finale. This is extremely promising.

June 2022 (Vintage 2020)

Moderately firm reduction pushes the ripe underlying fruit to the background today. More interesting are the solidly dense and surprisingly powerful yet refined medium weight flavors that also display impeccably good balance on the lingering finale. This too could use a bit better depth but given the quality of the underlying material, more should almost certainly develop. A classic rendition.
