About this winery

The Trimbach family has a long and storied history in Alsace. Growers since the 17th century the estate is now in the hands of its 12th generation, where brothers Pierre and Jean Trimbach run the day to day operations. Tasting notes

Trimbach’s “classic” Gewurztraminer offers a model of restraint and refreshment that I can only wish more growers would emulate. Smelling of smoked meats, celery seed and sea breeze, it is positively bracing even before it hits the palate, where a certain oily richness does not equate to heaviness nor preclude vivacity. Celery root, peach, and smoked meats dominate the finish of this truly ripe, dry-tasting, yet only 13.5% stylistic statement.

August 2017 (Vintage 2014)

The aromas are rather shy on the nose—there is just a mere floral whiff. The palate is dry and lets us see subtle varietal aromas: golden peach, a touch of honeysuckle spice, a hint of jasmine, aromatic orange zest. This is a restrained, streamlined and elegant varietal expression.

September 2015

This is extremely rich and beautiful yet balanced and bright with spice, aniseed and dried orange. Full-bodied and flavorful. Delicious. All in balance. All the production of Trimbach's gewurz went into this.

August 2018

Very ripe notes of pear and peach dominate the nose, while the palate brims with freshness. The concentrated body has texture from the zestiness but also that backfround of rich ripeness. It finishes completely dry, with a streak of mandarin on the long finish.

February 2020 (Vintage 2016)

Beeswax and crushed pine notes are layered with poached apple, Marcona almond and lemon curd flavors in this dry, medium-bodied version, framed by sleek acidity and petrol-laced minerality.
