Juin 2022 (Millésime 2021)

The 2021er Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese was made from fruit picked at 86° Oechsle and was fermented down to fruity-styled levels of residual sugar (70-75 g/l). It offers a captivating and complex nose of anise, white flowers, almond, vineyard peach, and spices. The wine is delicately velvety and superbly playful on the palate. It has presence and extract but also finesse and beautiful lightness. The after-taste is airy
and persistent. What a great Spätlese in the making.

Octobre 2016 (Millésime 2015)

Harvested at 92° Oechsle, this offers a gorgeous nose of pear, yellow peach, quince and apricot tree flower. The wine is hugely elegant and refined on the palate and leaves a clean and juicy feel with the presence of a light Auslese on the palate. 2025-2045

Août 2018

The 2017er Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Spätlese was harvested at a full 96° Oechsle. It develops a quite opulent and aromatic nose of apricot, juicy peach, pineapple, guava, a hint of melon and honey. The wine coats the palate with intense and juicy creamy fruits. Some smooth yet juicy acidity adds to the intense Auslese presence of this wine. The finish is driven by beautifully pure and lingering flavors of quince, peach and pear. This Auslese in all but name is quite a treat but will only truly be at its best in a decade or so.

Janvier 2018

Reflecting highly concentrated but entirely healthy grapes harvested at 94 Oechsle, and a volume of just 3,000 liters from 2.5 acres in the prime Falkenberg lieu-dit, it’s not hard to understand why Constantin Richter presented this bottling last in his lineup of 2016 vintage Spätlesen. “If we had ‘gold capsule Spätlesen’,” he noted, “this would be one.” A headily ripe nose of Persian melon, mango and pineapple anticipates the flavors but not the degree of brightness, tang and animation exhibited on a creamy palate, a legacy of light berry desiccation having concentrated acids as well as sugars. The lingering finish is prominently sweet by estate standards but both luscious and refreshing.

2016 (Millésime 2014)

Creamy and lush-tasting, with concentrated flavors of baked apple and pear tart flush with notes of savory herb and spice. The finish powers through, with honey cream and fennel accents.

Juillet 2017

The 2016er Juffer-Sonnenuhr Spätlese was made from clean and shriveled grapes harvested at 94° Oechsle. It develops a delicately creamy nose of vineyard peach, grapefruit, some earthy spices and quite some citrusy whipped cream. The wine proves deliciously playful and mouth-watering on the palate as rich creamy fruits are balanced out by zesty acidity. The finish is still on the sweet side at this early stage but this should develop positively at maturity, and there is even quite some upside potential if it gains in finesse.
