About this winery

Champagne AYALA is one of the longest-established champagne Houses; it has been based in Aÿ, at the heart of the great champagne vineyards, since it was founded over 150 years ago. Independent and family-owned, it is still today the archetype of a great and historic House, producing top quality wines which are enjoyed throughout the world for their freshness and elegance. October 2022 (Vintage 2016)

Delicate, fresh and romantic bouquet of lemon, jasmine, spring flowers and orchard fruits. Very sappy and round, the palate is perfectly balanced and has both a pinpoint mousse and a crystalline texture. Although quite approachable today, it will come into its own when it picks up more complexity and texture with another year or two on the cork.

March 2020 (Vintage 2013)

The 2013 Le Blanc de Blancs from Ayala is 100% Chardonnay sourced from three Grand Cru villages and 2 Premier Cru villages, all on the Côtes des Blancs. It offers a classic Blanc de Blancs nose of crushed citrus and lemon curd as well as notes of white flowers, toasted almonds, and freshly baked bread. Rich, medium-bodied, and beautifully textured on the palate, it shows the cooler, pure, focused style of the vintage yet has terrific depth and length. Count me impressed.

September 2018

Super attractive aromas of chalky, fine, lemon pastry and pears with a subtle mineral thread. The palate has a very attractive array of fine, smooth peaches and citrus fruit and delivers a plush, elegant and finely focused palate. Beautifully fresh blanc de blancs.

August 2023 (Vintage 2016)

This is really delicious, with buttered-brioche and bread-dough character. It's full bodied but not heavy. Just rich and plush. Creamy and round-textured. Extremely long aftertaste. Pure chardonnay. Aged six years on the lees. 5 g/l dosage

Dried honeysuckle, lemon, dried apple, praline, toasted almond and crushed stone on the nose. Mineral and linear with a medium body, sharp acidity and sleek bubbles. Fresh and dry. Chardonnay.
