The H Billiot estate is comprised of 5 hectares of Grand Cru vineyards spread across 18 different mid-slope parcels of limestone in Ambonnay. Upon release, the wines are snapped up by in-the-know wine enthusiasts seeking 100% Grand Cru fizz at an entry-level price. A bright pink color, the NV Champagne Grand Cru Brut Rose is 80% Pinot Noir (8% of which is vin rouge) and reveals notes of poppy red pomegranate berries, clementine, crushed chalky earth, and powder. Zesty and medium-bodied, it has good intensity and a dry feel, with a lively mousse and a rather long finish. It’s going to drink well over the coming 6-8 years.
