About this winery

The Gimonnet family has been growing vines in Champagne since 1750. In 1935 Pierre Gimonnet, grandfather of current owners Didier and Olivier, began producing champagne in the village of Cuis. Didier and Olivier own 30 hectares in total; 16 hectares are Premier Cru from the village of Cuis. A high percentage of their vineyards are Grand Cru - 12 hectares in total, spread across the villages of Cramant, Chouilly, Oger and Aÿ. The Grand Cu vineyards have an average age of 40 years. James Suckling, July 2022 (Vintage 2015)

Very deep and concentrated with fantastic mineral freshness lifting the substantial body, this is a sparkling chardonnay masterpiece. Great candied-citrus and chalky complexity at the expansive finish, yet this remains so pure and straight. From vines planted in 1911 and 1982. Disgorged in April, 2021. Drink or hold.

Deep nose of preserved and candied lemons with bread dough and toasted baguette. Concentrated and well structured, but the chalky minerality and the lively fine mousse give this a wonderful brightness and energy. Long really crystalline finish. From vines planted between 1911 and 1982 in the Terres des Buissons, Bauves and Champ de Prevot sites. Bottled in April 2017 and disgorged in November 2022

Antonio Galloni, November 2020 (Vintage 2014)

The 2014 Brut Spécial Club Cramant Grand Cru is another super-impressive wine in this range. It emerges from the Bateau, Gromonts, Buissons, Bauves, Bionnes, Champ du Prévôt and Briquettes lieux-dits. Orange confit, tangerine oil, white flowers, graphite and lightly tropical fruit infuse the Cramant with tremendous complexity to match its powerful personality. The Cramant is a rich, heady Champagne with a feeling of structure that leans towards the realm of Pinot. I loved it. Dosage is 4 grams per liter.

Jeb Dunnuck, November 2022 (Vintage 2015)

Expressive and sunny, the 2015 Champagne Cramant Grand Cru Special Club Brut is ripe with orchard fruits, lemon bars, and white flowers. The palate has more depth for the range and is also broad, though it does have tension and a stony finish. With notes of salted lime, ripe white peach, and green pear, this is a more warming wine that can stand up throughout a meal. Of the 2015s, I think this one will stand up nicely over time. Drink 2024-2042.
