Rocca di Castagnoli is an ancient medieval fortress which was the origin of the Castagnoli hamlet. Throughout its history, this place was owned by numerous noble families, including Tempi (whose coat of arms still represents the company) and Ricasoli. The 2021 Chianti Fattoria di Scannano is a soft, fruity wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Succulent red cherry fruit, blood orange, mint, spice, rose petal and cinnamon build nicely in this charming Chianti Classico. Another year or two in bottle should do the trick. There is certainly plenty to look forward to.
