Tilia is the Latin name for the Linden tree found throughout Mendoza. In Argentina’s wine country, the tree’s leaves are commonly used by vineyard workers to brew a popular, calming tea. Translated into Spanish, locals refer to Lindens as the “tree of life”. For them, these trees represent a slower, more spiritual side of life. Wines by Tilia are dedicated to maintaining the best traditions of the rural, Mendoza way of life while also being respectful of the environment through careful stewardship. They are made at the historic Bodega Esmeralda, the Catena family’s original winery. Grapes are sourced from a combination of vineyards in the traditional Eastern region of Mendoza, and the dynamic South. Sustainable farming techniques such as drip irrigation, natural fertilization, and canopy management help produce low yields, highly aromatic fruit, while still preserving the integrity of the vines and soil. Tilia team members also receive ongoing viticulture and sustainability training, which they readily take to the fields to share and implement with their grower partners. The results are wines that are welcoming, affordable and true expressions of their varietal character. Tilia invites you to pour a glass, take a sip and enjoy one of life’s simpler pleasures.
