Château Bouscassé Les Jardins Philosophiques 2017

- 93 points -

Alain Brumont inherited Château Bouscassé in 1979 and has been making the wines ever since. This Pacherenc is a blend of mostly petit courbu, with 20 percent petit manseng. Grown in red clay and limestone, it’s richly textured, showing a struck-match smokiness that slides into whole lemon rind, autumnal fruit and a quiet, orchid-like florality. It’s slow to unfold, revealing delicate flavors that stand out from the firm texture. Take your time with the wine alongside saucisson sec on a cool fall day.
