THIBAULT LIGER-BELAIR - Charmes-Chambertin Grand cru - 2019

THIBAULT LIGER-BELAIR

Charmes-Chambertin Grand cru 2019

(from Charmes proper; 70% whole cluster but without the central stem). An appealingly layered nose reflects notes of lavender and violet along with earthy and fresh red currant aromas that are trimmed in subtle but not invisible wood influence. This is also quite generously proportioned with fine mid-palate concentration to the medium weight flavors that exude a discreet minerality on the powerful and well-balanced finish. This very firmly structured effort needs to develop more depth but as it is going to require extended cellaring, there is a very good chance it will do just that.

About Burghound.com

Burghound.com is the result of a nearly lifelong passion for the wines of Burgundy. For more than 30 years, I have been collecting the wines and visiting the region. Each year I spend nearly five months visiting, researching, tasting, exploring and evaluating. Burgundy is my obsession really. Expanding on my coverage of the coveted pinot noir grape, each issue provides continuous coverage of both Oregon and California pinot noir, with rotating coverage of Champagne and occasional special reports from other pinot producing regions.
