Expect a deep cerise colour with a lovely vinous nose that reveals heady florals, some smouldering dark fruit, and a savoury character that is just plain exciting. The fruit ranges from red to black to blue: raspberries and plums to mulberries and blueberries. There is also a captivating menthol note, along with chocolate and gravel dust. The flavours mirror the nose, with savoury, black, licorice fruit that reveals the woody part of a berry bush as well the juicy fruit itself. The acidity is marked and refreshing. Sturdy but fine-grained tannins prop up the dense and savoury fruit, keeping its minty, botanical plot. It finishes with the gravelly, dusty complexity that graced the nose. It's a complex, intricate malbec that embodies Catena's devotion to this formidable grape.
